The Pinsk College of Jesuits

The Pinsk College of Jesuits is an architectural monument of the 17th century. It was founded in 1631 by Pinsk elder S. Radziwill. It was built in brick in the years 1651-75 in the historical centre of Pinsk, near the church of St. Stanislav built in 1635-1646 by architect M. Falkowski (it was not preserved). The three-storey building, H-shaped in plan is oriented to the Pina enbankment with its southern facade and is covered with a two-pitched roof with a fracture and sculpted Baroque facades on the ends (it was restored in 1930). The south-west corner of the building is flanked by six-sided tower buttress. It has vaulted cellars, on the upper floors there is a three-bay corridor system of planning. It is cross-vaulting. From 1638 there was a philosophical and theological school in the College Board, in the 18th century a printing house and a pharmacy worked there. From 1787 the Board moved to the Basilians, from 1800 there was an Orthodox Epiphany Monastery there. Currently, the Pinsk Museum and Art Gallery are situated in the building. It is a historical and cultural value of national importance.
