Achievments of Belarus' science

According to the programs, in 2009, 94 scientific theories of different level of generalization were proposed and substantiated; more than 1540 new scientific laws discovered; more than 1245 new methods and principles of research created; about 16 600 scientific works published. On these programs’ instructions more than 300 models of new mechanisms, equipment and devices, about 100 systems, complexes, Automatic Control Systems, Administrative Databases, Computer-Aided Designs and software products, about 1060 new materials, substances and instruments, about 260 technological processes, about 135 new industrial technologies were designed and created. More than 730 security documents for industrial property were received, more than 765 applications for industrial property were submitted. For participation in international exhibitions about 20 medals and more than 80 degrees were received, in republican exhibitions - 2 medals and 25 diplomas. 785 results of the program, including more than 100 - with economic effect, and more than 270 - with social or environmental effect got the right to be used (or transferred the right to be used) in the production process, its maintenance and management. The program executors performed more than 1130 contracts and agreements on the preparation and application of innovations in production, the production of newly developed products, and conduction of the research and development, organizational and technological solutions, work in the sphere of scientific services, certification and other testing of products. Besides that, more than 590 contracts and agreements without financing, and 330 international projects and grants were carried out.

Belarusian scientists have made significant progress in various areas of research. The achievements of scientific schools in mathematics, theoretical physics, spectroscopy and luminescence, laser physics, electronics, automation, thermal physics, materials science, engineering, geology, bio-organic chemistry, physiology, genetics, plant breeding, soil science, cardiology, surgery, linguistics, etc. are widely known and received high rating in Belarus and the international recognition.

A number of studies have the highest rank of importance and are recorded as scientific discoveries. These include: ultrasonic capillary effect, the phenomenon of the mobility of double bonds in the cyclic diene compounds, the phenomenon of stabilization-labialization of electronically activated polyatomic molecules, the phenomenon of nuclear precession of neutrons, the phenomenon of lateral parallax of the beam of light when reflection, the phenomenon of rotation of the plane of polarization of hard gamma-quantum, the phenomenon of regulation of hyper parasitism by the immune of the vertebrals, the phenomenon of the formation rich in hydrogen zone below the surface of metal during friction, the protective characteristic of the screening pigment of the organs of vision of humans and animals, regularity of changes of acoustic oscillations of the brain, the ability of the synovial environment to ensure high antifriction of cartilages in the joints of humans and animals.

Outstanding works, discoveries and scientific achievements, the results of which have enriched considerably national and international science and technology, influenced significantly the development of scientific and technological progress, the effectiveness of national economy, ensuring public health and environment protection, are awarded every two years with the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science and technology, established in 1992. These prizes are awarded by the President of the Republic of Belarus and are considered as the highest recognition of services of scientists to the country and society.
